Catch Up With Me - Spring 2017 Life Update

Sunday, June 18, 2017

It's definitely been a hectic few months, and although I've still been posting on my blog as normal, I feel as though I haven't properly spoken about all of the different things I've been up to lately. If you follow me on social media, especially Twitter, then you'll definitely be more aware of the exciting opportunities and activities that I've been up to, but I wanted to talk about them some more on my blog. If you're wondering what I've been up to lately, including college, dance, blogging and just life in general - keep reading!

Dance Competition

During the half term holidays, I had a dance competition, which was my first one with this dance team. Although in the past I've usually competed with Lipa, this competition was with North West Academy, which is the dance school that my old teacher from Lipa opened (I'm still at Lipa but we've focused more on show preparation this year). We took two routines, being a jazz / commercial dance and a contemporary, in which me and my friend Daisy opened with a duet. I really liked both dances and we definitely performed the best that we could, given that we'd only been dancing together for a couple of months. The icing on top of the cake was definitely getting 1st place for our commercial group dance, which was definitely a great achievement for our first competition together.

Moving House

One of the largest changes in my life recently has been moving house at the end of half term, which was definitely a stressful process, to say the least. I was reluctant to move house at first and didn't really want to leave my old house, but I've definitely started to settle in and feel more at home. We've moved within the same area, probably only a couple of minutes away from our old house, but we're on a new estate and I'm in love with how the new house looks. You'll definitely be seeing bits and pieces in the backgrounds of blog photos, so keep your eyes peeled!

Finishing EPQ

A couple of months ago now, I finally finished my Extended Project Qualification, which was probably the most intense and stressful part of my life over the past year. I wrote a blog post all about my experience and advice, so if you want to know more then check that out, but I'd definitely say that it was a rewarding process to complete. I'm honestly glad that I stuck with it, as I came close to quitting at times but the hard work paid off. Although my mark isn't finalised as it has to be externally examined, my teacher did tell me that it had been internally examined as an A*, being full marks. I'm still honestly in shock by this and I'm made up, as I worked endlessly on the project and dedicated so much time to it, so it was great to have my hard work rewarded.

Blogging Opportunities

I'm incredibly lucky to have quite a lot of blogging opportunities, and the past few months have definitely been filled with some exciting ones. In May, I was lucky enough to have an image from my Spring Primark Haul featured in Top of the Pops Magazine. After being contacted through Instagram, I eagerly accepted this opportunity and it was very surreal to see a photo of me printed in a magazine, especially as it's the type of thing that I'd read as a preteen. I've also been lucky enough to be sent products from T-Zone and Rimmel London, which I've loved trying out and you'll see a lot more of on my blog. There's also some exciting things in the works, such as a post I'm working on with Seventeen Cosmetics that you'll see some time in the summer!

College Ambassador

As the end of my first year of college is quickly approaching, I decided to apply to become a college ambassador next year, meaning I will help out with a variety of college events and activities. I was one of the lucky few who was accepted and we kicked off everything with a training day of fun activities including raft building and canoeing. These definitely aren't my forte but I enjoyed myself so much, even if we did end up freezing and swimming in the lake because our raft broke. Already I've made new friends and had a great time, so I can't wait to see what the future as a college ambassador will bring.

There have been many other things going on in the past few months, and since it'd take too long to talk about them all, I thought I'd give you a quick overview with all of these photos!
