PS Beauty Contour & Glow Palette - The Perfect Mary Lou Manizer Dupe

Sunday, February 26, 2017

The Balm's infamous highlighter, Mary-Lou Manizer, has been a firm favourite of mine ever since I tried it, but it's definitely not the cheapest product on the market. I'm always on the hunt for a good dupe and when I discovered the PS Beauty Contour and Glow Palette, I instantly knew that it was a competitor for The Balm's product. I thought I'd put it to the test in the form of this mini-review post, so I hope you like it.

From a first glance, it's clear that these highlighters are virtually identical. They're both a gorgeous, gold-toned champagne shades that I think would suit any skin tone. This is definitely a flattering shade that can be applied minimally for a natural glow or more generously for an intense highlight.

Another thing that instantly jumped out to me is the smooth and creamy texture of the PS Beauty highlighter. It feels incredibly soft to the touch, more so than I'd expect from a budget product, and I think it might even be softer than the Mary-Lou Manizer, which I certainly wasn't expecting.

As you can see from the above photo, the highlighters look pretty much identical once applied, with the budget one being slightly more gold-toned. Both applied evenly to the skin, with insane pigmentation that meant only a small amount was required to create a gorgeous look. I actually think that the PS highlighter on the left is bolder and more pigmented, hitting the light to create a gorgeous illumination on the cheekbones.

I'd also like to quickly mention the sculpting shade in the PS Contour & Glow Palette, which is another amazing product. It's a medium-toned brown shade that isn't too warm or cool, meaning it can be used to add some depth and dimension to the face without looking orangey. I love using this to create an overall bronzed appearance, contour my face or even in the crease of the eye, making it a versatile and lovely product.

Overall, I love both of these products and think that a highlighter like these is an essential part of your makeup collection. For £3.50, it's not possible to refuse the PS Contour & Glow Palette, which creates a gorgeous look and is a strong competitor for The Balm's highlighter. If you've tried out either of these products, I'd love to know what you thought and which you preferred, so make sure you let me know!

Thanks for reading this post and I hope that you liked it. Sorry that it's shorter than what I'd usually upload, but I've honestly been feeling the pressure with college lately and didn't have the time to fully dedicate myself to a post. Don't worry though, I'll be back again next week so I'll see you then!

Love from Daisy x
